Tri-fold Card for PAMC Challenge #9

This week's challenge at PAMC was hosted by the lovely Deana. Tri-fold Cards! I have really loved making cards lately. Its so much more fun to send someone a card YOU created from the heart. I like to see or hear their reactions after they receive their card from me. I've never attempted a tri-fold card though. I wasnt sure where to start to be honest but I know I wanted something I could use at anytime as a greeting card instead of a specific holiday/occassion =) I drew out all of the shapes on different colored cardstocks and cut them out/edged them etc. Then put them all together. I really love my decorative scissors! You can do so much with them! The hills have script stamped in emerald on them. and the tree has a red gem.

Items used: 2 colors of blue cardstock, White cardstock, 2 colors of green cardstock, brown cardstock, emerald & black dye inks by stampabilities, script stamp from A Time to Stamp, Happy Everything stamp from Studio G, decorative scissors, self stick gems by Darico

Check out our design teams creations HERE. They all do such beautiful work! And feel free to jump on over & participate! We'd love to see your creations!

Happy Thursday all!

A few new additions to my shop...

I have been doing a lot of different things the last few days and so I thought I would post one big blog with all the things I have done lol. Thought it might be easier :)

Remember about a week ago I mentioned that I was knitting! Do your remember the pics of the beginning of my first knitted item and how I mentioned that I wanted it to be a table runner. Welll.... that didnt happen lol. Actually I tried really hard to make it into a table runner but I couldn't get it long enough to fit the kitchen table because its so long. I just simply did not have enough yarn of that color to do it. So I decided to turn what once was meant to be a table runner into a shaw. Funny how things happen right? So I used some burgundy colored yarn and made a fringe along the bottom, added a large brown button and wha-lah. I have my first hand knitted project. Im thinking of putting it in my etsy shop. I just wish I had someone to model it for me lol. I've started another knitting project now. I'm about 1/2 finished with the first of 2 window valances for my studio windows. (I hope, a-hem) LOL.

I had so much fun altering that clock I did for PAMC a few weeks back that I wanted to alter another one for my studio. This is what I came up with. The colors and everything are alot brighter in person but I took the pic at night so it didnt really show everything the way I was hoping. The quote in the middle is on vellum and it says "The Lover of Life makes the whole word into his family"

Items used: Purple Acrylic paint, Number stamps (unsure where they are from), Number diecut stickers by Colorbok, Background decorative paper by Colorbox, Pansy vellum stickers by stickopatamus, vellum quote from colorbok, cardstock in lavendar and sage, & glitter glue by crayola.

This is a faux mosaic frame that I created for my shop. I painted a wooden frame from Michaels white with acrylic paint. I then tore dark blue cardstock and a teal and brown decorative paper in to square shapes. I then meticulously glued each square into place in a pattern. Once that was dry I used Aleene's Paper Glaze on each individual square. It had to dry for 24 hours untouched. Then I added another coat of paper glaze and waited another 24 hours. Once it was dry and set properly I coated it 2 times with Liquitex gloss medium & varnish, and of course waited another 12 hours before I did anything lol. For embellishments I layered a white, teal, and green flower from Prima and attached it with 3600 glue and added a blue gem to the flowers. The final embel. was the yarn on either side of the flower. Its attached with 3600 as well. I love the way it fades from dark blue to the teal color! I will be adding this item to my shop soon!

The final thing I've created this week is what I call a Lotus flower candleholder. I've made these in the past for my shop but havent made them in a while. The base of the candleholder is a record that I have painted and sealed. Then the flower is also a record that I melted into this shape. Its painted in pearl purple and the edge has glitter. It is also sealed a few times. The records are attached together with 3600 glue and the glass candleholder in the center of the flower is attached to the flower with 3600 as well. I will be adding this to my shop in a few days as well. I hope I can make a few more in other colors soon =)

I think thats about all for now =) I've been pretty busy the last week or so! Hopefully I can create some more goodies this week!

I hope you're all having a great week! I'm off to cook supper, relax and watch Idol later tonight!

-> GO ADAM & DANNY! <-

Precious Prayers Keepsake Box

Last night I added a new item to my shop Hillside Studios. My little sis helped me name it =D I think she came up with the perfect name for it too!

I actually had different pictures posted of this last night but when I woke up this morning and it was sooo warm and beautiful outside I HAD to take more pics outside! It gave me an excuse to sit outside for a bit and enjoy the beauty on our hill =) Plus the lighting was so much better for a nice pic. I loved the star shape of this box. It was a blank paper mache box that I found for fifty cents at Michaels! I painted the lid of the box in red and then sponged gold. The bottom and inside of the box is painted in olive green. I found this gorgeous vintage image searching online for free ephemera. =) I added red ruby gems to each corner of the lid and also some gold filigre that I had to add some decor to the lid. The final step was to seal everything several times in a clear gloss medium. I use Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish. =D Its actually a good sized box its 3 inches deep and can hold lots inside. It measures about 6 1/2 inches in width and length.

I am selling this item for $15.00 with $5.00 for shipping. (I send all items w/ delivery confirmation) To purchase this item or visit the listing for this item where there are more pics featured you can go HERE.

To see other items in my shop you can click HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sissy Scrap Challenge- SSCRC1

I'm a little late with this challenge. This Past week over at Sissy Scrap Challenge Margie hosted a card recipe challenge. The recipe was Ribbons, inchies, and buttons.

I made a music cd envelope for my piece. :) Sorry I'm not really sure who the designer papers are by :( The paper flowers were made using a technique from PAMC. All the stitching is real and done by hand :)

Later this week I will try and post a tutorial on how to make your own cd envelope. :)

Twilight Card- TTSC3

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to make for my first Twilight Tuesday Challenge but this is what I came up with using the sketch provided :) It was alot of fun to make.

I made the background paper and wrote a tutorial that you can check out here. For the checkered part I used black and white cardstock and weaved it together. I drew the apple out on cardstock and cut it out. The shine of the apple is in white gel pen and white colored pencil. I drew the swirls on with a sharpee. The circle around the apple is actually Silver oragami paper :) I used my sewing machine to sew around the outside edge of the card with white thread. And finally I attached some ribbons and a sparkly bow. The background has metallics in it and shines. I couldnt really get a great pic of it to show off all of the shine and dimension :) This was a great challenge though.. for my FAVORITE topic .lol.

This is the sketch supplied by Twilight Tuesday..
what can you come up with?

There's still one more week to participate! If you're a Twilight Crafter then this is the place for you!

Peace. Love. Create

help for a fellow artist...

I am a member of a site called Creative Souls and I just learned that one of the other members, JoAnna's husband has been diagnosed with another brain tumor. This is the information that JoAnnA has shared with us from her blog, http://mosshills.blogspot.com/ ....

More serious than we thought

Oh my, how do I even say this. Ron's neurologist explained to us, as we viewed his MRI scans, that this tumor is massive, compressing the brain stem and 4th ventricle. Ventricles in our brain carries the CSF Fluid. That is my understanding. This is what the doctor said:Ron needs immediate surgery. He has maybe a month to live before the ventricle would be cut off and he would die. Talk about feeling like a mac truck hits you. I thought I was going to completely loose it. When you hear news like this, you want to faint and not connect to the truth, just like when I heard that my mom was dead. It brought that familiar pain back. After the doctor's visit we went to the social services office. The quickest Ron could be covered will be next Thursday, a WEEK. A week seems like eternity right now. They handed me more paper work that I have to do and bring back in the morning.Ron's doctor wants him to have his surgery in San Francisco. We have a nephew who lives in the city, so hopefully I could crash on his couch while Ron is in surgery. Oh my, this is so big to even think about and put into prospective. If Ron is not eligible for medical treatment, then he will not be able to have the surgery. Please please please continue to pray. Again, our faith is strong, or at least Ron's is. I keep reaching for the phone to call my mother. It just seems way to big to me and hurts so very much. I have to be strong for Ron. He is hurting over me hurting. And I understand that from when he got the news about me. We have both been on the other side of the fence.
April 17 1:05pm

Creative Souls have put together a chip in fund for Ron & JoAnnA to help with the medical bills as they do not have coverage etc. The address to this is: http://ronpierotti.chipin.com/ron-pierotti

Below is a widget that can be added to any page/blog etc. If you could spare a dollar or 2 it could go a long way into helping these two wonderful people in this distressing time.

I will continue to pray for them daily. Please also keep them in your prayers.

Twilight Fan

I'm another one of those older than they should be Twilight fanatics .lol. I was one of the only adults in the theatre the night Twilight opened in theatres. Go figure lol. But I dont mind. I read all of the series before I knew that there was going to be a movie. Of course by the time I found out there was going to be a movie.. I was already hooked! The stories that Stephenie Meyer has collaborated are so grasping. You get pulled in and I ended up wanting more.. sadly the serious is finished :( I loved the movie not as much as the books but I still loved it. With that said... being such a fan of both the books & the movies. I have decided to put together a blog dedicated to the saga of Edward and Bella. Its called Lion Luvs Lamb. (one of my favorite quotes in Twilight btw) The blog is already launched and there's a poll and a bunch of news/info about the next movie in the saga being filmed now.. New Moon. I want to update this blog frequently with news, artwork, thoughts/opinions, polls and other fun stuff! If you are a Twilighter please check it out and follow me.. perhaps leave a few comments etc. I would love for this blog to be active with followers, comments and discussions ;)

Hope to see you there!

Our Pets Mini Scrapbook

I found this awesome website called Scrapbook Crazy. I LOVE this site! There has been alot of talk about paper bag albums and so I went on a search for a few tutorials/examples so I could try it out as well. This site has EVERYTHING you could think of to make mini-scrap albums and more! On the site there is a tutorial for a Waterfall Paper Bag Album. I used this tutorial to create this photo album. I wanted an album for all the great pics of the new puppies and our dog and cat. I love this because there are pockets that I can put different things inside of. Tags, pics I dont have room for, dog tags, etc! I also had the idea that if you made one for something like a baby or a wedding and you had a cd of pics or videos or what not you could slip those in the pockets for a gift/keepsake as well. There's tons of things you could do! You have to try this out. Its tons of fun! Just thought I would share. I havent added pictures yet but when I do I'll be sure to share! :)

Who knew?

So yesterday while over at the in-laws house for Easter dinner. My mom in law was showing me some of her knitting and her and my sister in law talked me into trying it. I've never done this kind of thing before. Thought it would be too complicated for me and was sort of afraid of it. But Candy showed me how to do it and I caught on pretty quick. This is how much I've gotten done since last night. Not to bad huh? I think this is going to be a runner for our dining room table.... its too small for a throw. Who knew that I could and would like doing this?! lol. Here's a picture of it close up so you can see the details....

I've also started a wall hanging that I am quilting by hand. Its a very slow process and I havent gotten much accomplished with it. Once I get a little more done, I'll take a few pics and share :)

PAMC- Altered CD Clock

This week at Jennifer hosted our Challenge over at PAMC. She chose Altered Cd's. :) Let me tell you I LOVE doing altered projects. A lightbulb lit in my mind when she told us what the challenge would be because I have this drab wall clock that I have hated. I've wanted to alter that clock forever and just never got around to it. Perfect opportunity! Of course the hubby thought I was insane when he walked in my studio and he saw me holding a clock that was 1/2 way dismanteled .lol. But being the hubby that he is, he didn't ask questions lmbo.

So like I said. I tore apart the old clock and made my own face for it using a cd for the center of the face. I decided that this was going to go in our bedroom so I wanted to use blues to match everything else :) This is how the face looked when I was finished.

I used: different types of scrap papers, ice blue ribbon, cutouts from a paper
punchout packet by colorbok, crystal stickles, my flower punch w/ white
cardstock, black ink and alpha stamps (sorry not sure by who)
I sanded the outside of the clock and then painted it black and sealed it with glaze. Then I just put it all together. :) Here is the before and after of the clock :D (SORRY the after is a side view, I couldn't get a shot of it without the glare from the lights & the flash) This was tons of fun!
Check out PAMC & maybe join in on the fun!

Sissy's Scrap Challenges Lo #1 (My Fav Friend)

Today was the kick off to my friend Sara's new challenge site Sissy's Scrap Challenges :) This is the LO she created for the first challenge. Pretty nifty huh?

To be honest I have had pictures stored in my memory card FOREVER it seems that I have yet to get printed so that I can scrap them. I guess I got lazy when it came to my scrapbook. The last page I actually scrapped was Easter 2 years ago *lol* EESH! (thats kinda scary huh?)

This new challenge blog is absolutely inspiring me to scrap those pics finally! I love using these neat layouts as well. It gives me a challenge but also helps me figure out HOW to create my page. I always had trouble figuring that out.

Tonight I decided I wanted to use a pic of my best friend Ginger for my page. She has helped me get through so much and has ALWAYS been there for me. Even with her living in Mississippi she is always there without fail. She's the true definition of friend.

okay enough with the mushy stuff .lol. dont wanna give her a big head or anything hahaha j/k!

Here is my page:

I used: patterned scrap paper/alpha stickers/word stickers/& cutouts by
Colorbok, chipboard cutout by me & my big ideas, ribbon by perfectly posh,
trini bright flowers by prima, & self stick gems by Darico

Make sure to check out Sissy's Scrap Challenge! Totally fun stuff!

Chuckles Wednesday

I love a good joke and every now and then I love to share the jokes that I receive through email or that I hear around, just to give someone else a smile and maybe lighten their day a bit. So I thought each Wednesday I would post a joke here and call it Chuckle's Wednesday. ;) I hope you get a laugh out of these jokes :)

THE TINY CABIN

A social worker from a big City in Massachusetts recently transferred to the Mountains of West Virginia and was on the first tour of her new territory when she came upon the tiniest cabin she had ever seen in her life.

Intrigued, she went up and knocked on the door.

'Anybody home?' she asked.
'Yep,' came a kid's voice through the door.
'Is your father there?' asked the social worker.
'Pa? Nope, he left afore Ma came in,' said the kid.
'Well, is your mother there?' persisted the social worker.
'Ma? Nope, she left just before I got here,' said the kid.
'But,' protested the social worker, 'are you never together as a family?'
'Sure, but not here,' said the kid through the door.
'This is the Outhouse!' (Government workers are so smart)

T-G-I-F ~vs~ S-H-I-T

A business man got on an elevator. When he entered, there wasa blonde already inside who greeted him with a bright,'T-G-I-F.'He smiled at her and replied, 'S-H-I-T.'
She looked puzzled and repeated, 'T-G-I-F,' more slowly. He again answered, 'S-H-I-T.'
The blonde was trying to keep it friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile and said as sweetly as possible, 'T-G-I-F.'
The man smiled back to her and once again, 'S-H-I-T.'
The exasperated blonde finally decided to explain....'T-G-I-F' means 'Thank Goodness It'sFriday.' Get it, Duuhhh?'
The man answered, ''S-H-I-T' means 'Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday -- Duuhhh!'

And finally the Funny Pic of the day.....

"I'm NOT smelling THOSE!"

Humor Du Jour

Today I received this email forward and I just had to share it. Its clever and honest. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Ande~

Subject: Humor Du Jour

An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly rather true.

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouth wash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement .

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust
His wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility, his son, Reason

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My RightsI Want It Now;Someone Else Is To Blame;I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.'
