4x4's: Wings

Im participating in a mingle for 4x4's with the theme Wings... So I decided to make 4 very different 4x4's :) I think 'The Flight of Sorrow' is my favorite of the 4. I made the background with acrylics & a plastic fork lol. I had some fun with my sewing machine on the 'Take Flight' 4x4. I decided to 'quilt' it and I loved how it turned out. 'Believe' was just something I put together with our cat Diesel in mind (he passed away recently and we miss him.) Its sort of a statement to believe that our lost pets are waiting for us in heaven. And 'Magical Secrets' was another one that I decided to use my sewing machine on. :) You cant see it well but their is a strip of fabric ribbon and I hand sewed the buttons on, and the fairies outfit and wings as well as the butterfly she is whispering too shimmer. It was so much fun to create these. I liked thinking of different idea's of what you can do with wings. I cant wait to receive mine too :)
Carpe Diem,
Andrea

'Openings' ~ One World, One Heart: Give away

I will be giving this 4x4 away for the 'One Heart One World' giveaway :) Its a wonderful way for bloggers to come together and meet/interact, share your artwork and possibly win prizes :) To enter please leave a comment with your blog address or email address. I will use the random number picker to choose the winner and the winner will be announced on Feb. 12th.

For Wednesday Stamper the theme was 'Openings' and so I thought of a window. I created this 4x4...

The leaf stamps and bird stamp were all bought from Michaels on clearance. The leaf stamp was actually a stamp for decorating handmade soaps but I thought it would work for ink as well so I snatched it up *lol* I'm not sure if every dollar store is the same but here when you buy something thats fragile they wrap the items up in decorative tissue papers. So the curtains for the window is made from some of the tissue paper I saved from that. I always keep things like that just incase, you never know when you could use it for some sort of art project :) I wish you could see the clouds better in the 'sky' behind the bird but the scan just didnt let that show so well. I just love how all the colors go together. I'm a big fan of neutrals. :)

Art Quilt 4x4

I created this 4x4 for a swap in Artistic-Creations as well. Its called an Art Quilt, but instead of using fabrics I used paper because I have no clue how to sew and didnt even want to attempt the mess *lol* I can tell you now that would be a disaster! HAHA! So I used some need background paper I had laying around with a few die cuts of flowers and butterflies. I cut the background into 1 inch squares and glued them to a green sheet of cardstock. I then cut even smaller squares out of white cardstock and used those in the empty spaces of the pattern. I added a weird shaped heart design out of pink cardstock and edged everything in black ink. I then attached the flowers. The butterflies wings are actually 3-d I folded them up so that they looked like they were sitting on the flowers. But scanning them made them flat of course. It isnt the best, or most creative but I just wanted to try something different and challenge myself.
