Newspaper Flowers @ PAMC

Over at PAMC, its my turn to host the week's challenge. Jeanette a fellow Design Team member at PAMC posted an awesome paper flower tutorial. So I thought we could all incorporate the tutorial in our challenge creations this week. :) I love Gothic arches and so I created a couple of them for the challenge.

The first thing I decided to do after I chose my main images was use another technique (the bandana technique) to create background papers. These are the background papers I created for each arch.

Then for the first arch. I cut out the typical arch shape from my background and added my main image. Then I layered some pretty ribbons and attached them on the left of the arch. I Stamped the cute saying on white paper with black ink (the stamp is from Studio G) and I edged the square with green colored pencil. The next step was to make the newspaper flower from Jeanette's tutorial. I decided to make a large flower. I followed the steps that Jeanette gave us but I also outlined each of the 6 circles with a different colored marker and then assembled the flower and attached to the arch with a gold brad. I just assembled it all together and wha-lah! This is the finished product:

I loved the outcome of this one so much that I decided to make my blog banner with the different embels I used for the arch :)

The second arch was a little different. I used a different arch template, a more decorative one for this arch. Its one of my favorite of the arch templates :) I attached my main image first. Then I decided to try and make a sort of ley (spelling) you know the hawaiian flower necklaces lol. out of the newspaper flowers. so I made 4 different flowers and edged each with a different color. Under the flowers I glued a piece of pink thread, and then attached each flower w/ a bronze brad. I thought the happiness definition would be a fun addition. It came from my ephemera book that I found at Michaels. I cut the words apart and glued them to black cardstock as a sort of border, then just attached to the arch. The final step was cutting a larger arch in black and attaching my finished arch to it to give it a border and make the colors really pop. It was a fun one. It put me in a great summery mood :)

Check out PAMC's Blog or the Group to participate, and to see the other creations from our Design Team Members & all the other participants. I promise you wont be sorry! The Inspiration is unbelievable!

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Winter Love Gothic Arch Ornament

In Art-and-Crafts we had a swap for Paper Christmas ornaments but I was a little late on getting mine out because of the things that have happened in my life. So instead I made a valentine/winter themed Arch decoration. It has a cord for hanging and everything is hand painted with watercolors. I really like the blue against the red and the hearts with the snowflakes. The snowflakes are actually embossed, and the edging of the arch is in red sparkles but it doesnt show well with the scan. *Hmpf*

Here's another view with the tag moved back to see the arch itself.

Hope for a cure- a gothic arch

The Gothic Arch Challenge this week is an open theme. So I thought I would create an arch for breast cancer awareness since this month is breast cancer awareness month. I thought I would take a second to think of Tim's Grandma James who passed away when he was a small child from breast cancer. She is dearly missed. Remember to be aware, do regular exams, and continue praying for a cure.

'Create Art' - Gothic Arch

"Create Art" Gothic Arch

Last weeks Gothic Arch Challenge was Pretty in Pink =) I was late (of course) on creating mine but I did want to participate so I created one today. In Artistic-Creations this week's technique challenge was the bandana technique... so I created the background using the bandana technique.. The scan doesnt show it but the outer rim of each medallion is colored in orange, pink, and yellow. Im not really sure why scanners dull colors out but for some reason they do. This arch is so much brighter (especially the pinks) in person than in this scan. *sighs* But anyway .lol. Im not sure where the stamps and image are from. I found the quote stamp at hobby lobby. I wish I would have kept better records of where all of my stamps came from. *sighs*

'Beauty in Shadows' Gothic Arch

"Beauty in Shadows" Gothic Arch

Today I wanted to create something... and so I created another Halloween item. This is a gothic arch. If you arent familiar with Gothic arches you can visit http://gothicarches.ning.com/ to learn more about them. The Witchy graphic came from a collage sheet freebie by Gaby at http://gaby-cajubrasil.blogspot.com/ The background is acrylic paints using the credit card technique. Stamps are from Purple Onion Designs. The flowers at the top were just flower punches in oranges, brown and black and braded together.

The Maxwell Challenge

I recently joined a group called Paper Imagery Designs, and this is my first week there. I am really loving the group... everyone is super created, talented, and friendly! There is a challenge this week called the Maxwell Challenge.... basically everyone takes the vintage image that is shared of a man named Maxwell and they creatively and humorously create an item showing what Maxwell is up to. The entry's are due today and I just HAD to participate because it sounded like so much fun! I thought I would share my creation.. its a Gothic Arch of course, and I drew Maxwell in comical swimming gear :) I had a lot of fun with him as you can tell! I used a green polka dotted scrapbook sheet as the main background... but I then took some scrap punchinella, placed it on my arch and colored over it using different colored crayons. When I got the colors the way I wanted them. I took my scissors and I gently scrapped the excess wax from the paper to give it a less shiny/waxy look and a more subtle flat look. I added some random flourishes using black ink and a flourish stamp. I cut out Maxwell and edge him with black ink then attached him to the arch. Next I took white cardstock and stamped Fun in the Sun with black ink. Then outlined each letter using neon colored Gel pens. I used orange, yellow, green, pink, and blue. I tore out the words and edged with black ink again. I attached them to the arch, and then edged the entire outside of the arch with black ink as well. The final step was to attach the neon plastic half marbles I had lying around... and Wha-lah! Maxwells having fun in the sun! *lol* =}
