I have been spending all of my spare time crocheting this afghan, and yesterday I FINALLY finished it! Its my first afghan! Woohoo! I'm really pleased with the design and the colors that I chose. My hubby likes it so much that he asked me to do one in Gators colors, so that'll me my next side project. Then I think I will put together a baby blanket. I'm so glad to be back online too! My modem went out in my laptop so I was without the net for about a week (not good when you have an online business!!!) My hubby decided to get me a desktop this time and so thats what Im using now. I am really hoping that in the coming weeks we will be able to get highspeed internet because netzero is creeping! I mean, I have had dial up for sometime. It comes with the territory of living in the middle of nowhere lol. BUT when I had aol it was much faster than netzero. I can literally click on a website, then go to another room and finish a chore like vaccuming or dishes before its totally loaded! Its really annoying to be honest, but at least I am online lol. Keepin my fingers crossed for high speed though! =) I will be working on some new art in the coming days as well. I'm trying to get a little of everything in my shop and its lacking art at the moment. I just need to figure out WHAT it is I want to draw or paint. Any suggestions folks?!?Thursday, July 22, 2010

Weekend Crafters: Pink & Green
This week's Challenge at Weekend Crafters is the color Combo: Pink and Green.Since I wasnt able to participate in the Mygrafico challenge there for last week, I thought I would put the 2 challenges together. So I used 2 digital stamps from the Playful Pals set from MyGrafico, and lots of pink & green for this card. I colored the cat with colored pencil. There's a lot of sewing on this card as well. The center of the flower, the leaf, and the edges around the cat have glitter on them. It was fun doing this challenge. Pink & Green were the colors I used for my wedding Aug. 2nd 2003. =) It was fun working with them. I cant wait to see what everyone else is going to create!
The Challenge is open to anyone & can be anything your heart desires!
In other news, My Printer died. =*( My hubby wasnt able to bring it back to life =( Bless his heart, he tried.... but I guess my poor little printer went to printer heaven. We went and got me a new printer though and its working well. Its about time. I have so much stuff that I need to print that has piled up on my computer due to not having a working printer. I'm so glad I can finally get it all caught up now =) Even if it did cost me $50! lol.
I think thats pretty much it for now. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

"Go Green" from PAMC
I thought this challenge was the perfect chance for me to use my kit! So I got it out and used some old scrap pieces of paper in green that I had and started the process. I made 3 sheets of green recycled paper with the kit. This is how they looked when I was finished.
They were really wet at this stage... and you are supposed to wait 24 hours before you use the paper so that it can dry.. but i'm impatient lol. So I got out my dryer and went to work drying the paper. .chuckles.This is how the paper looked when it was dry....

After getting together my vintage image, stamps, needle, thread, button, word stickers, colord pencils, markers, and my homemade background paper I started essembling my ATC..... and... whalah!
There's alot going on with this ATC. I used my colored pencils to color the vintage image I used. She was a boring black and white, so I had to spruce it up a little & attached it to my background. Next I edged the word stickers I chose w/ my green marker & attached them. Next I stamped a heart image with Hunter Green ink & a heart stamp from Studio G onto cardstock. I cut it out and attached it. The next step was really time consuming! On the right hand side of the ATC I took Green floss and stitched down the side. I sewed on my green button with white thread and then sewed french knots into the spots of the heart. I wish you could see the 3d effect it all made a little better w/ the picture. sighs. The final step was edging the entire card w/ green marker.
[Note of advice: if you make homemade paper like I created... ink & markers run through the paper if you do not use plain gelatin in your mix. Not sure why but its a pain to discover @ the end of a project .lol]
Again it was lots of fun to participate. I loved seeing all the other creations from the DT members! Check them out at the group or the blog! They are fantastic! We are really hoping that the group & blog will flourish. We are all having tons of fun!
On another note, I found out this morning that I got the job I interviewed for a few weeks back! Yay! Im super excited and start tomorrow at 10 am! Wish me luck guys! Hoping everyone had a blast on St. Patty's Day!
With love,
Andrea
